Fabia vRS mk1 - FMIC, turbo & hard pipes

$

Looking for a bit of advice on a turbo / FMIC / hard pipe kit set up on my Fabia.

I want a hard pipe kit as i've had a standard one blow off a few times now. At the same time i want a FMIC as i plan to aim for over 200bhp, plus i already have a Shark stage 1 map so a FMIC can only be good for the current standard turbo while it's still fitted. I like the look of the Airtrec one but would rather not have to cut the bumper, crash bar and rad mount and i definitely don't want to lose the fog lights and tow strap. The Forge one is mega-bucks just to have something that's a straight fit but would avoid a lot of hassle.

That brings me into the next thing - i plan on an EGR delete and possibly a DPF delete. I fancy a Piper exhaust system but don't know what turbo to go for. I kinda need to make a decision before i buy the exhaust though.

Can anyone make any suggestion about what order i should buy things in. Also, does anyone know if i buy a certain intercooler set up will it come with all the pipes i need so that i don't need to buy a hard pipe kit or not?

Thanks for reading this far!

Had my lambda sensor B1S1 replaced in Oct 2015 with a P2196 error - signal too high (rich)

Just got EML and codes showing the following:

2 faults found: 008785 Lambda sensor B1S1 Negative Lead

P2251 - 000 Open circuit

004374 Lambda sensor Heating B1S1

Any ideas?

VCDS EGR Quantity - how is it worked out

$

How does VCDS get the 'actual' EGR quantity? I assume it must be a calculated (but from which sensor data I am not clear) as I can't see how it would be measured directly. Asking as I am trying to work out if and how VCDS could be displaying a misleading value.

Thanks

Output Tests N75, N18 valves

$

Still fairly new to the VCDS game, up to date have just been taking logs and scans, but tonight tried doing an output test. Reason for this was I was starting to suspect anti shudder valve V157 as being a cause for poor running. The V157 valve cycled opened and shut as it should so looks like it is OK.

During the tests of the valves in the solenoid valve block N75, N18 and N345, I could clearly hear N345 click as it was cycled but no sound from N75 or N18 during their test cycles. Given the engine is not running during these tests, that my hearing is still reasonably good and how clearly I could hear the N345, I would have expected to hear the other 2 as well.

Anyone know if you would normally expect to hear these valves?

Thanks

Car: Octavia 2 1.9 PD BXE

As a slight aside, but not a major problem, when you get to the output tests menu it looks like you can choose between selecting specific tests or cycling through all the tests (in this case for engine) it does not appear to be possible to select the individual tests option.

Is there a VCDS option to remove this warning while opening the drivers door when DSG is in drive/reverse? Tried googling my eyes out but no result. I can not be the only one wanting this.

Octavia vRS Mk2 - Can you disable high beam monitoring?

$

Hi all

As per the title really, I've fitted LED bulbs to the high beam in the Octavia, light output and pattern is excellent, but the car doesn't like them and throws an error on ignition on, before they've even been used

I have some load resistors that I can fit and see if that sorts it, but obviously it would be better to disable the startup check instead of piping extra current around just to fool it

I have a new computer at the moment so don't have access to VCDS right now, wondering if anyone has successfully disabled the monitoring system?

Many Thanks

Which fault is causing "limp home" mode?

$

Hi,

My Octavia Mk2 seems to be in "limp home" mode..!

The garage I took it to found 2 fault codes which I've looked up on here

16618 P0234 is "Turbocharger Overboost Condition Control limit exceeded" &

16706 P0322 is "Ign./Distributor Eng.Speed Inp.Circ No Signal"

Does anyone on here know which one is causing the "limp home" mode and does it make sense to get that fixed first?

Any help with the cause of the two codes and the likely cost of repair would also be greatly appreciated.

many thanks

Andy

Hi Guys,

I found the place in VCDS where I can disable the headlight wash but I couldn't find where I can change the wash parameters.

Where are the parameters changed?

All my searches show results for Octy 2 only.

Thanks for any help

Block 003 and Block 011 Plots

Took these plots as still having problems, down on power, lurching.

These were taken in 3rd gear with WOT

( B) *version is just a repeat of (a) but with range of vertical axes changed.

I would have thought that EGR (N18) duty cycle should have been much lower (95.5% would be valve fully open?)

I would also have thought that Boost Pressure (N75) duty cycle should have increased as speed increased.

Have I got the above correct?

Would also welcome any comments on these plots.

Thanks

*this is just supposed to be a letter b in brackets - it just keeps turning into this daft face.

Have now added Run 2 (4th Gear)

Should have said Octavia 2 1.9 PD BXE

Wind noise (whistle)

Evening lads and ladies

I have one of the most basic annoying faults which before I start aimlessly purchasing new parts

So at low speeds (windows up) the noise isn't really noticeable, at around 30mph is when you can really start to hear it, and volume increases with speed, but the noise pretty much triples in volume when the window is open

I have looked for damage to the door, and door frame seal, I have also inspected the mirror for any debris and damage and can't find anything

If anyone could shed any light on this I'd be very grateful

VCDS - values out of range

$

Hi,

2 questions for all you VCDS experts out there.

I plugged my new MY16 Octavia VRS  into VCDS for the first time and started to try coding some of the possible adaptations.

the first 3 worked (changing the throttle mode to audi, showing blower speed on auto and switching off the sound generator) and I was able to follow the instructions fairly easily, however when I started to try and code other functions I was getting errors.

On trying to change the voltage for the Start/Stop system i followed the instructions:

Go to Module 19 (Can Gateway)
· Adaption
· Go to Kanaal: Start_stop_voltage_limit
· change to 12.1V ( standaard is 7.6V)

however when i came to apply the new voltage i get an error message saying the value is out of range.

I also had this on the first stage of enabling Traffic sign recognition.

The next issue is when it comes to enabling the intelligent light assist.  I followed the instructions provided by Andyvee and there was a slight descriptive difference in channels, however the coding was accepted.  When i came to activate light assist however (by pushing the stalk forward) I received a maxidot error "light assist error".  Is this because I was stationary?  I have now reverted all changes for the light assist to standard

EDIT:  I forgot to sya I'm using version 15.7.4. should I try again with one fo the newer betas?

EDIT 2:

I've just found this from Andyvee:

  • The latest beta of VCDS has a tick box for a soft controller reset when changing adaptation channels - this is a feature I asked Ross Tech to add for a reason, it is needed on MQB platform cars, so use it!

Just to confirm, should I be ticking the box at the same time as changing the channel?

Whiteline RARB bushes replacements?

Hi guys,

Just nabbed a Golf GTi mk5 Whiteline RARB for pennies but with worn poly bushes.

It's a 24mm bar. Can anyone tell me where to get some rear poly bushes that will fit my Octy Mk2 VRS?

I can only find 24mm front poly bushes.

Do Whiteline do spare parts?

TIA

Coil Overs

$

Sooo, as the title says really, talk to me about coil overs. My Mk 1 Octavia vRS is in need of new shocks, very floaty on the front, and I am pretty sure one of the rears has gone as well :(

Looking through everyone's favourite auction site, there is a bewildering array of choice......

Now, here comes the crunch - I don't really want anything too hard and crashy (roads round here are diabolical) and not really bothered about slamming it to the deck (potholes, drains, speed bumps etc).

So with this in mind, can you lovely people clarify a couple of points for me?

First, they state a lowering range of 20-60mm - is this compared to a standard Octavia? So in effect, on it's highest setting it would be the same height as a standard vRS?

Second, they state that the shocks are uprated 20% over standard? - as above really, is this compared to standard?

Finally, setting them up. Do just compare the length (ooer) with the original ones that are being removed, or do you have to measure from wheel centre to arch and adjust until they are level left to right?

Lot's of questions I know, but after coming from a Discovery where it was +2" shocks and springs, it's a whole different board game..........

TIA
