Skoda Fabia Engine Management light is on!

Our Skoda Fabia is about ten years old with about 90,000 miles and the engine management sign has come on.  Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what that means and what sort of cost its likely to mean?

Hi

Car running poorly and starting problems (see below)

 

Did a VCDS scan all well bar these 3 faults -  block 16, 56 and 76.

 

Had been aware of the rear parking sensor problem and have had poor radio reception in past OK now though, obviously neither of these in any way related to how car runs. Seems unlikely but could the steering column faults be causing this much havoc?

2008 Octavia 2 1.9 PD BXE

Neither self or garages have been able to get to bottom of it.

Aware it's a big ask, but if anyone with more experience of interpreting VCDS data could cast an eye over the log below to see if they can see anything untoward it would be much appreciated.

Octavia Scout TDi BMM with a lumpy tickover !

Hi All, My Octavia Scout 2009 TDi BMM engine has developed a rough tickover, people have suggested monitoring - injectors,boost,egr,coolant temp, but when I go into the options there are more than one tick box option for say 'coolant temp' so which would be the best 'locations' to monitor for my problem ? and if I can put a log on here which is the best way 'graph' or 'log' to save it and then transfer it over ? cheers Stuart

 I configured the 69 Tráiler module for first installation,I added shop codes by default and the steps of Towbar electrics coding of this forum, but after codify with 0101000200000000, no more possble to modify tráiler module lonngcode, seems to be aplied but really not saved... locked !

 

How to modify tráiler code again? or reset default values? original long code was 010000000000000

Parking sensors

I have recently took ownership of an 2012 octy blackline,  The rear parking sensors are connected up via the amundsen + stereo and the volume can be controlled via the maxi dot. I am happy with this.  The front sensors however do not allow me to alter the volume so i suspect that these may be a aftermarket installation?  Are the any VCDS codes etc that anyone can think of that can reduce the volume of this?

Key remote programming help please

Wondering if someone can help please.

 

Trying to program a second (replacement) remote on a mark 5 Golf and cannot change the stored number of keys in VCDS.

 

I have opened Controller 46 and reset to factory to wipe the existing remote. No problem so far.

 

Then in measuring blocks, I have put 2 in for the number of keys, but on testing it reverts to 1 and only allows a value of 1 to save. So the car can only program one key. I have done this with both remotes and each remote works perfectly if programmed separately, but I cannot find any way of storing 2 as the number of keys I needs to adapt.

 

So, question is, what do I do to get the car to store 2 as the number of keys to adapt?

Any pointers please?

EDIT On further investigation, the original remotes are part number 1K0 959 753 G. The new (ebay used) is 1K0 959 753 N. both are on 434MHz frequency. 

On looking on here http://cartechnology.co.uk/printthread.php?tid=6771 version G is for the Golf 5, N is for a Golf 6. Even though they are on the same frequency, should it work, or do we need to source another version G?

Strong diesel exhaust fume smell Octavia 2.0 vrs

Hi all,

I've not long bought a 2006 Octavia 2.0 TDI 170

The exhaust fumes smell really bad. Normal diesel exhaust smell but 10x worse. It kinda burns the inside of your nose and almost enough to make your eyes water.

Its not too noticeable while driving but if at in traffic its terrible. Also sometimes while idling its a little lumpy I'd say its worse when cold but still does it when warm. Sometimes seems a bit hesitant when put foot down around 2000-2500 rpm No smoke just a bad smell. It also purges if using cruise control at 30-40 mph or in low gears. It was worse when I tried giving it a clear out. Doing about 70mph in 4th around 4000rpm with cruise control on.

I've used a few full tanks of fuel with cleaner in and its made no difference. I've not checked the oil consumption yet but I'm getting 40mpg average but does go up to about 55mpg if sat at 70mph on motorway so I think fuel consumption is about right

Anybody have any ideas?

I need some help here if anyone can help me..
I bought from ebay a reverse cam interface for my rns 510 columbus..and i cant make it work..i mean the codin they told me to do ,its not working..i tripled checked the wires and everything is just fine.i checked the reverse camera ..i bought a clasic display and i plugged the rca wire into this display and it has signal when i pull it in to reverse.i did every thing..
This is the coding i tried:
In controler 10(park/steering assist) bit 0 -bit 5(rear view cam instaled) and also i disabled bit 4(optical ilustration active) because when i tried bouth it says:coding rejected.error31:request out of range
So i disabled optical view and i enabled rear view camera
After that in controler 37(navigation) bit 4 i enabled bit 6( back-up camera low)
I restarted the rns510 and still nothing apperas on the display.
Until this it was appearing the optical view.
CAN U HELP ME

Hi Dont know if I am doing something wrong but there is no info on my engine on the Ross Tech site, if I look on the Skoda Octavia mk2 page it doesn't list a PD 2ltr TDi only a CR or a 1.9PD, I have done a search and BMM is not listed ! cheers Stuart

Renault Master ECU diagnosis/repair

Hi everyone

 

Thought this would be the best place to ask as everybody here is so helpful.

 

Long story short I need my ECU checked over/repaired for my 2008 Renault Master with 145,000 miles.

 

It had the head skimmed in October and since it came back it's had no boost until around 2.3k when it comes in strongly.  This was drivable although very slow as the next gear up was then below the higher boost point - full loads were a nightmare.  I went back to the garage who whilst agreeing it was low on power and down on MPG, said because there were no fault codes they couldn't do a thing about it.  I suggested the ECU to them then, but again computer says no...  To  be fair to them they haven't charged me for the head work until we get to the bottom of this issue so I have no reason to doubt them.

 

So I drove around 4k miles/3 months with the boost issue and apart from that it ran just fine.

 

A few weeks ago I drove it 30 miles, parked it up.  Went to move it ten minutes later and pressing the throttle pedal did nothing.  There wasn't even enough oomph to move the empty van on tickover.

 

AA chap came out and showed me that the ECU read the throttle movement but wasn't passing it on.  He could also move the throttle body via the laptop so that is fine.

 

During my 8 hour wait for the right vehicle to pick me up the van stopped ticking over so it's now not running at all.

 

So as the garage has a 6 week waiting time I asked them to remove the ECU (which they've done) so I can at least eliminate/repair that during that period.

 

I have been given the number of BBA Reman by a knowledgeable source who uses them.  I have just looked at the google reviews and it's not good!  Agreed people are more likely to air negative experiences than good but still, the score is quite low.

 

Who can forum members recommend to give my ECU a once over and a genuine repair if required?

Hello, today I tried connect to the car, but in VCDS->Auto-Scan, when I select exact model not worked, nothing, cannot connect, so I choosed Auto-Select, which worked. Scan gateway, where it found all modules, but only 2(Cent. elect. and CAN Gateway) of them were accessible, other like 01 Engine or 03 ABS, breaks were writting errors "No response from controller".. what is wrong? I did this before 3 months, everything worked, I tried different USB, turned ignition key, different laptop, clean Windows 7, cable and laptop are good, because it work's before .. :(

Remote unlocking all doors? Mk2 Octavia.

Our 2009 Octavia VRS unlocks just the drivers door and then after another press of the unlock button all the other doors are unlocked. Can the locking ECU be reprogrammed to unlock ALL the doors on the first press of the button.

Heard it can be done on mk3 Octy but what about the mk2?

I can't remember if I had momentary consumption included in the menu of maxi-dot but it seems to be missing after I enabled and disabled some features six months ago... So, is there a way to get my "Consumption" in the Driving Data menu of Maxi-Dot back because I need to watch my momentary consumption. Thanks in advance!
