Adding menu item for auto locking / unlocking in Fabia 3

I'm trying to add the auto locking and unlocking menu function to the head unit in our Fabia 3. I've been given some instructions that I should use adaption channel 18 in 5F, but I think I might have a newer version of the infotainment because I get a big list of channels, all un numbered. This appears to mean its using UDS. Car is registered April 2016 so pretty new.

 

So does anyone know where that option is in the UDS version, or am I barking up the wrong tree? (or just barking?)


A ridiculous idea that I'm actually considering.

Okay, so this is a bit "out there", if you will, but could a Mk2 Octavia VRS TD be retrofitted with AWD and a larger TDI engine; say a 3.0 V6? 

 

I understand that such a conversion is obviously within the realms of possibility if budget was not an issue. But could it be done with relatively few custom-machined parts? For example, could you take the AWD system from a Golf V6 4-Motion and place it on an Octavia? I guess what I'm asking is, could such a thing be done without going over the edge on budget. Say, £10,000?

 

Just so we are clear, I realise that there is no strictly "practical" reason for someone to do this if the issue is simply performance. It's something I would do for its own sake; a vanity project. I also like the look of the Octavia, of course.  

Coming Home lights when Auto lights installed

Excuse me for asking what appears to be a noob question but I can't see an exact question already asked.

Auto Lights installed, coming home lights work fine when switched to auto

 

I keep my main headlights on the whole time but would still like the coming home feature.  Is there a way to enable this?

 

which measuring blocks to choose ?

hi folks

i have a twin cam 2.0 tdi PD DSG 2006 Octavia and it seems to not want to start properly, sometimes its like the battery is flat or the starter motor is lazy for a second or 2 and then it seems like it doesnt want to start for a second and then jumps into life. i have had issues with the EGR and the ant shudder valve/throttle body and have changed both but it seems to be getting worse.
the engine has lag when you press the pedal as if its thinking about things and then it shoots off especially in reverse.
there is what seems to be a miss or something else causing a judder when stationary or moving as if the revs are going up and down but the rev counter stays the same
these bkd engines according to google do this but it can be 1 of 10 things ranging from the injector/heater loom to blockage in the manifold or even vac pipes etc

i am wondering what measuring blocks to log to test from cold start to warm so that may shed some light on things?
any help appreciated guys

 

accasional climate control glitch

it's not a big problem (hopefully) and it doesn't always happen, but once in a while (every few weeks maybe?) we don't get refrigerated air.  it blows hot, cold whatever, but it is just air.  stopping then starting the engine then returns the cooled air.  I've asked on and off during the warranty but the dealer could never find anything wrong, although I'm not sure they got what the problem was, because naturally it always worked when I took it in,  thanks if you have any thoughts

Roomster (Fab2) instrument lighting independant of light switch

Hi all,

 

I am not sure if this is covered somewhere amongst a heap of other VCDS andt tricked coding in here...

 

Recently got hold of our 2013 (late 2012) Roomster, and I really miss having the instrument and button backlighting ON, no matter conditions outside (because Norway...).

This is okay on the Octy 3 due sensors for DRL and so on with the Auto-mode on the light switch, but there's none of this on the Roomster.

 

Can anyone shed some light IF it is doable and what data to change to achieve this?

(Not in any way familiar myself, but a friend has the tool for coding...)

Hi all. Looking for a generous Briskodian with vcds in the Worcester area.

Need my service light setting back to variable service. Accidentaly changed it back to fixed. Octavia 2 fl

Dont fancy going back to skoda after they kindly rectified it for me earlier.

Any help rewarded by beer food or coin.

Northeast VCDS

Hi All,

I have had a look at the list of VCDS but not sure how upto date it is for my location.

Is there anyone in the Northeast? preferably close to Durham city as I dont have any weekends free to travel due to work till December, so would have to be a weekday after work that could setup the following in VCDS for me on a MK 2 Octavia VRS.

VNT Turbo V Wastegate

Random topic here but just something I've always been curious about. We all know VNTS are much better top end and wastegates are better lower end. My mate has an A4 130bhp waste gate remapped to approx 170-180 bhp. I have a late 110 bhp VNT Octavia. I have the Octavia booked in for remap and it should sit round 140-150 bhp after remap. Realistically the Octavia should have much more top end than the A4 after remap? Easiest way to find out is simple lol but from a technical view I'm curious.

Hi guys.

Really didn't know which section to post this in - so Mods please move to appropriate position.

My OBD11 dongle (pro version) arrived last week, but my car has been in for warranty repair for the last week, so I've been unable to register/login yet.

Can anybody tell me if I can install the program & register/login without the dongle connected to the car & powered on/paired?
Or does this need to happen at the same time?

Main reason for asking - I'd love to be earning free credits even though I'm unable to use them yet.... because as soon as I get the car back, I'm planning on using up some credits with a few programming tweaks through apps.

(I haven't managed to steal my partners android device yet, to check this for myself.... but I also don't want to try it if it's going to mess up my registration at all, and cause issues when I finally do get to plug it into the car)

Airbag Fault and VCDS

My 2004 Superb I 1.9TDI comes up with a beep and Airbag Fault message in the central display plus the airbag engine warning light on startup. So far I have not tried anything apart from wiggling the connectors under my seat. Will VCDS point me to the failing component?

Elite Remaps

Anyone heard of them/used them before? Gains don't seem to be any different to other tuners but wondered if there was any views?

57 plate fabia 3 electric windows and mirrors

OK swapped out fuse 11 as it had a blown 5amp,  Windows were then working, drivers door mirror moved then tried turning it to the left mirror and I think I went to far to the heating bit and the fuse blew again.  So what is the best way to test?  disconnect the two heater elements then try another fuse and test both mirrors for movement, then try one heater and see if it blows?

200 bhp for £1,000 ?

Just had a map done on my newly purchased 2001 octy 4x4 1.8T ( 148 up to 188 bhp .....bjf tuning Clydebank........good progressive boost / torque improvement across rev range ). Just bought it for winter second car as I live in the sticks and ithas good winter tyres on it too, but couldn't help myself and went for a bit more power too. Total cost £1,300 including the car at £1000.

 

This got me thinking ( will get the point ...I promise......... ) . Has  anyone managed to get 200 bhp for a total £1k...any car....moded or not ?.........myself and my mates used to challenge each other to get 200bhp for £2k total....sad but true Image may be NSFW.

( smokey pd206 tag from my old bora tdi 206bhp, but cost £5k total back in 2009 though....diid the usual 150 pd cam follower melting thing....that was the end of that fun )

Garret GT1749VA turbo rebuild and compressor wheel upgrade?

hey, I have an garret gt1749va from an old project of mine and I was wondering if anyone has rebuilt them with a billet compressor wheel? If so is it worth doing, what kind of power did you make when remapped and most of all what wheel did you use? any help and advice would be much appreciated!

Help With Resetting Heater Controls VCDS

hi there, new to using VCDS. Have looked at a few threads on how to reset the values when changing the heater controls plus the heater flap motor and still not quite sure how to do it. if anyone could explain how to do it on VCDS or screenshots would be much appreciated. Thanks

Remap advice

I was thinking of doing a remap on my fabia greenline 1.2 diesel? Is it worth it
I know I could of just bought one with a bigger engine, on the run popping along at 70 to 80 mph it's great but around the hills I think it could do with a. Bit more grunt.
