Eibach pro sport on original dampers?

Hey all

Apologies if this has been covered or answered before but just want some opinions on this.

I am considering putting some eibach pro's 30mm on my CR VRS and keeping the standard dampers. I am aware that the standard factory drop is 15mm but my aim is to achieve a good compromise between ride height and comfort.

I just can't help but feel the car looks like it's sat up too high and it's becoming more obvious now, the further I mod it.

My question is, budget permitting, would it be better to shell out and get new dampers to compliment the eibachs, such as Koni FSD's or something of that ilk?

Or, just get the eibachs alone? What ever I do, I intend to fit my whiteline RARB to go with, then do a wheel allingment as a job lot.

What do we reckon?

Is there a way to adjust the volume increment when turning the dial?

I am wondering if anyone has ever adjusted how much the volume increases when you turn the volume dial?

 

And after that, I know you are probably wondering why would you ever want to. The reason is that I have had a major ICE install put in my car, and having a smaller volume increment would allow me to run with a higher gain on the system, yet still have a reasonable number of volume steps. It isn't helped by the fact the Amundsen unit runs out of puff above about 60% volume.

 

I have had a look through the Information Centre adaptations but haven't seen anything obvious.

 

Any help gratefully received.

Protecting drivetrain when mapping. Where don't you want torque?

Hi,

 

I have seen it mentioned a few times that to protect the drivetrain you want to avoid torque low down in the rev range, but nobody has provided any good sources or sound engineering rationale for this info.

 

Is it just a widely propagated myth?

 

 

 

Is a torque value of X more harmful at 2000rpm than it is at 4000rpm?

 

Does it really matter if it comes in early or later in the rev range?

 

 

 A big blat of torque, (like the old PD engines) feels harsh to the flimsy human in the passenger seat, but does it really matter mechanically? Is it all about the peak torque rather than the rate of increase to get there.

 

Do components genuinely care if it takes half a second to go from 100-500Nm, rather than three seconds?

 

 

As an aside - what happens when you try to keep the torque up at higher revs on a turbocharged engine - Even if you are requesting max output from the turbo, does the boost pressure drop as the engine is gobbling more air?

 

Is this easier on the turbo than requesting a big boost pressure at low/mid revs?

 

How kind/hard on a diesel engine is keeping it pulling up to it's redline, rather than it tailing off at 75% revs?

 

 

 

Finally - DSGs - is there a more sympathetic way to map the engine to care for them? or is it all just peak torque that matters?

Hi all,
Had a hybrid turbo fitted to my 2008 Leon 1.9 105 and she's currently sitting around the 190 mark, the clutch is understandably starting to slip so looking at a solid conversion kit. Been looking on eBay and has anyone any experience of a Hahn and Schmidt clutch kit? They're about £135 on eBay and wondering if the price is too good to be true

Firstly sorry if I've posted in the wrong format,  Just bought a Superb L&K, engine etc in log.  Having great difficulty getting the dealer to provide exact specification.  The windscreen has been replaced and I'm sure I now have "standard" headlights. Can I ask for observations on this auto scan?

It's also my first use of VCDS so anything else I've done wrong?

if you're in the North of England and can get to North Yorkshire easily. <mikeholroyd> is da man. very good with vcds, knows what he's doing and didnt take money (but i got him a lil gift anyway). real friendly guy who brewed us a cup of tea afterwards. 

 

cheers for the trip today mike, just a shame my skoda superb had cheapskate components and vcds couldn't do anything without the correct hardware.

Slight judder

Sorry in advance if this has already been mentioned.

Have a Octavia vRS estate and occasionally feel a slight judder/ hesitant on the throttle only for a split second then fine. Run the car between 2/2.5krpm for a while and returns to normal.

Am I right in thinking this could be the DPF starting to clog up? No light on dash just a bit unsure as first car with a DPF.

So the EVRY mod, ( potentiometer between a couple pins on the fuel pump harness tricks ecu to thinking its cooler than what it is = more fuel = more power) Controlled by an on off switch... But got me thinking more fuel... All well and good, but would be better with more boost.
Now I know you can get a smidge more boost out of the 1.9 tdi pre pd engines with a mbc before limp mode kicks in. But I'm wondering if anyone's tried upping the boost with the evry mod running. If you can achieve higher boost without limp mode with evry mod running, you could fit a 3mm solenoid valve (connect to the same on off switch as the evry mod) so the valve would open when you flick the switch, allowing the mbc to be "engaged" and when the switch is off, it closes the solenoid valve resulting in standard boost.

Bulb warning light stuck on

I have a 2008 suburb which shows on the MfD that the 'right rear fog light not working' I inspected all lights and found them to be working correctly. I carried out the Guided fault finding on ODIS which didn't help at all. I have replaced the bulb, inspected wiring all seems ok but the light remains on the mfd. There is only 1 connector between the voltage control unit and the bulb, this connector is ok. The light still remains on the mfd has anybody come across this before?

Octavia 2 FL VRS false side lights

As we all know, the side light function on the FL VRS Octy is performed by the dimming of the LED DRLs, and the "normal" side light bulbs in the headlights simply do not work. 

 

I have been asked if there is any way to enable these as well as the LED DRLs in dim mode by someone who has PM'd me after his FL Octy VRS 61 plate has been failed on an MOT because the headlight mounted sidelights were not working. On being told they didn't work on this model, the tester accepted the dimming DRLs and issued a pass, but the fail is now permanently logged in the system.

 

Wondering if there is any reprogramming of the BCM PQ35 light output possible with VCP to get both working?

I think the net is more future proof but that's limited to 10 vins unless you pay big bucks

Is the hexcan ok for a fabia 3 which is my car

as currently the friends I have that have vag cars non are newer than 2014 at the minute
Ross tech mentions that some of the controller's on mqb platform need the later unit

Trying to understand disappearing logged fault codes!

Some time ago, maybe in July, I posted somewhere within briskoda that after scanning wife's August 2015 Polo I had a "590081 - Control Circuit for A/C Compressor B10A9 11 [008] - Short to Ground   Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear ----"  then without me requesting that VCDS cleared these faults, the next time I scanned that car, probably weeks later, that logged fault code had vanished, at that time I was given answer which I probably did not fully understand, James@RRGRochdale , so sorry!

Then in September, I scanned that car and found I had a "5688 - Control Head for Multimedia System  B13C9 F2 [008] - On/Off Switch  Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear ----" then without me requesting VCDS cleared these faults, the next time I scanned that car, that logged fault had vanished.

 

So what is happening, is this VCDS making a decision about this and clearing these faults or is it the onboard controllers dismissing these faults after some time has passed and they do not re-appear?

 

It is just that I can't really understand the phrase "Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear"  - well at least the "Tested Since Memory Clear" bit is what I do not understand fully.
