TDI-Tuning "doubts"

Hi all,

 

sparked by a newsmail received by TDI-Tuning about their new CRTD4 product, I went to their website, just out of curiosity.

 

When I got to the before/after power/torque graph something looked a bit strange. Rolling the mouse over the graph lines there are popups showing the performance values for each curve at 500RPM intervals. But...

The power curve for my 1.6 CRD showed max power at 6000RPM (!) – and still going up at that point! – and the torque curve maxed at 3500RPM (!). Relative values should be 4400RPM and 1500-2500RPM, as per owner's manual.

 

So, being an over-suspicious type, I went to check the published graphs for two more cars: Audi A4 1.8 petrol and Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.6 diesel.

One should expect very different curves – both in height AND in shape – because of a petrol engine and because of a diesel engine which is advertised for more torque than Skoda's.

 

Well, comparing the three graphs, we can see the curves are veeery similar. Expecially the torque curves are virtually identical among the three cars. Main – only? – difference is the torque/power level which is indicated.

 

I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions but... I'm not 100% sure anymore that those advertised "custom mappings" do are so "very" custom.

Weird scan results

Hi all, today I had my Superb 2 scanned and ran basic adaptations on the Climatronic unit - I replaced the battery a couple of months ago and since then the AC seems to have a mind of it's own as to the temperature you'll get in the cabin.

What came up in the autoscan was pretty much every bulb in the car not working - They are all working fine aside from a number plate bulb which blew very recently.

The codes were cleared, but reappeared immediately - We tried this a few times but to no avail...

 

Same went for the adaptations of the AC system - All appeared to go well, but the issue remained and the code came back.

 

Anyway, here's the autoscan results:

I have a 2011 Fabia 2 1.2 tsi 84 bhp and looking to get a remap I've tried APR, BHP and Quantum all said they could but checking serial and version of the ecu they declined.
 
Are you able to read the ecu serial and version of the ecu so that rather spend time travelling I can email Unicorn, Shark or Superchips as to whether they have the files for a remap.

roomster log in code for gateway

hello

Does anyone know log in codes for the Canbus Gateway of a 2006 Roomster, its a 1.9 TDI Manual?

Heres the problem, on starting up it beeps for a defect/warning on the dash, and the rotating headlamp symbol is flashing yellow for a timed period.

Multifunction memories hold the fault code 'headlight range control malfunction-permanent'. The car hasnt got rotating headlights or range control ive had this verified by the main agent from the sticker in the boot. It has never had front foglights and the model is too early. After trawling the net ive found other owners on forums with the same problem, they said it started doing it after giving or recieving a jump start. It happens because the Canbus Gateway thinks this equipment is fitted when it isnt.

I need to use a full version of VCDS to re configure the Gateway.

Im a full time vehicle electrician with 30 years experience, i dont own VCDS but 3 different garages i do work for have the kit and im alowed to use it.

These are the latest version 16.8.3 with hex-can usb leads and i can do just about everything and everything i want EXCEPT reconfigure the Gateway.

It wont show me the list of installed components in the Gateway, if i click on the button on the left hand side in the 'auto scan' menu it says 'not supported by vehicle' and in the selected menu for the gateway in 'select control module' it requires a log in number, pop up windows for login codes pop up everywhere except in this menu, no pop ups.

So I wondered if anyone on this site knows any gateway log in codes or if this means the gateway is knackered?

If i could access the menus I could also tell it that it has a parking aid system because it doesnt think it has and ive tested the system and theres nothing wrong with it

as anyone fitted the Eibach sportline springs to standard shocks, if so whats the ride like and how does the car sit? Pro kit is only a 15/20 mm drop so dont think this enough, sportline is 25/30mm drop

rod file

Hi all, tried using my vagcom on my 2016 superb sportline yesterday (latest 16.8.3 download and genuine rosstech lead)  it scanned all ok apart from it saying at the end of the auto scan "missing rod file for ecm" i am thinking its because this car is a 2017 model year and rosstech havnt got the latest data. if i try and go into engine long coding it shows no details as well. what do people think. Phil.

Hi,

 

Just had my 2011 Fabia 2 Elegance remapped by Unicorn Motor Development who are based in Stockport.

 

Dyno before at the wheel 88hp at 5,843 rpm with torque 124.2 ft lbs at 2,452 rpm and Dyno now 120.7hp at 4,943rpm with torque 157.4ft lbs at 2,883 rpm.

 

And WOW what a difference the pulling power through the gears is brilliant.

 

So with the Powerflex PU bushes fitted (all but the top damper bushes) to make the ride firmer and this remap makes a big difference to the car handling and performance.

 

The car does not have traction control or ESP.

 

I was very impressed with Unicorn they only do remaps , no servicing or repairs and have hesitation in recommending them.

 

I had problem in that I changed the lower engine mount bush to a PU one and at idle with the aircon on the engine would rock the car Unicorn upped the idle slightly to as a cure.

VRS Steering assist adjustments needed

Hi all, 

 

I'm looking into tweaking the steering assistance level on my 2012 vrs to increase the weight/feel.

 

I find steering too light on fast motorway driving and this is particularly noticeable on long fast bends with bumpy surface when the car can be easily upset.  I'm hoping a heavier feel at speed will stabilize the car and make for a less stressful experience.

 

If anyone's altered the VCDS and experimented I'd love to know.

Parking sensors doing my head in

I have a high spec yeti, the parking sensors die when it rains. Water seems to get into one of the sensors and it kills the entire system.

 

I have a reversing camera, the camera is killed with the sensors.

 

Is there a way to code out the parking sensors and keep the camera, I can live without the sensors, but need the camera.

 

The car is 2 years old and is under warranty but I am sick of the dealer who shafted me for £1500 last month and have been unable to fix this issue twice.

 

I have VCDS if it can be used to turn the sensors off?

mkIII Octavia Tire Circumference Coding

After fiddling with HBA on my car earlier I was then having a look in the long coding for the Instruments controller.

 

Byte 2 has options for the fuel tank and Model, whilst Byte 3 has an option for Tire Circumference.  The drop downs for all three of these presents a number of Variant options.  Interestingly for the fuel tank and model it has Variant 1 coded, but the the Tires it is Variant 2.

 

Anyone got an idea what these mean, or have their own data for these options?

 

My car is a MY16 Scout with 17" wheels.

Swap USB/Aux to MDI on MIB1 Amundsen, what coding changes?

I originally posted this in the Octavia III Forum - but after 53 views and no replies thought this might be a better Forum...

 

I'm trying to replace the USB/Aux In connections on my 2015 Skoda Octavia III (MQB) with the MDI input. It's fitted with the MIB1 Amundsen infotainment unit (5F).

I've got the hardware I need (new lead from MIB1 to MDI socket, MDI socket and centre console trim) and the lead came with a coding instruction that said to set Bit 5 of Byte 8 in the 5F coding.

I've just looked at the 5F coding using VCDS 16.8.4 and that coding change doesn't look right to me as there's no information in byte 8 for bit 5 but there are bits in other bytes that refer to changing the USB functionality to add iPhone compatibility.

Can someone please advise what the correct coding changes are to enable MDI functionality (maybe someone who has a MIB1 Amundsen with MDI can share their coding?).

Viewing CSV files ?

Hi All, I have just done a 'log' and wish to view it properly so how do I do it ? at the moment the only way I can see a CSV file is looking at my VCDS 'logs' and click on it and it opens a window with all the data mixed up, is there an easier way ? Cheers Stuart

Having had the car now for 8 months I've started to do abit of modding.Having already fitted a fmic and a ramair panel filter I've now got ahold of a decat.Im also looking at fitting a electric exhaust cutout inbetween the down pipe and the decat pipe will I need to do anything else other than to have it remapped.Anyone got anymore advice or input good or bad thanks.
